Narative Story
The young woman known as Sakao Duen, or Kratai, returned to Thailand with her father Wisut, visiting her father's homeland for the first time. Kratai was born and raised in France. Luang Ratchamaitree discovered that Wisut had concealed the birth of Kratai, an illegitimate child, and ordered him to return and marry the ambassador's daughter, leaving Kratai at the Ratchamaitree home. Kratai did not want to stay and attempted to run away. Khun Luang decided to move her to Siracha and appointed her aunt Penlak, or Ah Lek, as her guardian.
Songklot was a future doctor. He was summoned home by his mother Song Manee, in the hope that he would marry the woman she had chosen for him. Songklot was unable to tolerate this, so he ran away to his older brother Songkrit's house. He met Kratai, the mischievous girl 15 years his junior who lived nearby. He fell in love with her aunt Penlak at first sight. He offered to be Kratai's tutor so he could court her aunt. Meanwhile, Songklot and Kratai developed a close friendship.
Kratai was sent to a private school and Songklot flew to America due to his mother's pressure to marry. He left without saying goodbye to Kratai. Three years passed and after spending time in a private school, Kratai changed significantly into a graceful young woman. Songklot returned to Thailand after his mother had given up on arranging his marriage. He accidentally ran into Kratai, but did not recognize her. She was hurt and disappointed. When he found out who she was, he did not want to believe that the graceful young woman today was the same Kratai he once knew.
